Women’s VIP Award Goes to Hatchery Director

The US National Association of Professional Women recently announced that the executive director of the support organization behind the D.C. Booth National Fishery Hatchery in Spearfish, South Dakota, is the organization’s chosen VIP Woman of the Year.

         April Gregory is executive director of the Booth Society, the non-profit “friends” group of the historic fish hatchery and its archives.

         “Gregory has attained the highest level of membership to the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) as a VIP Woman of the Year, and has been recognized for outstanding leadership and commitment within her profession,” says the women’s association.

Among her responsibilities as executive director, Ms. Gregory recruits, trains and coordinates more than 30 volunteers each summer. Her other tasks include advertising, grant applications, fundraising, general administrative duties such as budget, management and long-term planning, advocacy and coordinating special events and outreach programs.
