Redd Zone, LLC of Astoria, Oregon recently launched an alternative to tray incubation that the company claims doesn’t require major infrastructure alterations. According to Redd Zone its “Best Fry” high-density polyethylene (HDPE) deep-matrix incubator slides right into the tray rack and operates on existing plumbing.
“Benefits of deep-matrix incubation,” notes the company, “include better water utilization, instant production increase, the option of forced or volitional migration and better quality fry.”
And since “one size” doesn’t fit all in fish culture, Redd Zone says that it can custom design many features on the Best Fry incubators to meet the needs of each facility and production program. With inserts, up to 16 families can be incubated in isolation in its incubator
Each unit comes with substrate, slotted hatch plate to match specific egg size, fry gate to keep fry in until release and a lid to keep light out.
